May 22, 2007 By Mike Mitchell (Grand Rapids, MI) Pros: Ease of use, great phone clarity through bluetooth, accuracy of directives/rerouting great. Cons: None that I've found. Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with this GPS device. What exactly are people looking for in these? Do they want their GPS to talk back to them too? I read thousands of reviews before choosing, and it took a long time to commit because I couldn't figure out which options I definitely wanted and those I could do without. Then, once I figured that out, which review do I agree with? These negative reviews on high rated products like this one must be the competition. It seems made up. So, I broke down what I wanted based on a high rating by CNET. Then, I took those and decided what options I wanted in a newer model. A bigger screen size, text to speech functionality, bluetooth capability, and accessories should include AC adapter, car charger, USB cable and good windshield/dash mount. Those are hard to find in one package. The Nuvi 660 fit the bill and it hasn't let me down. I searched online for a reliable website/good price and I feel it was well worth the money I spent. Hope this helped people having a hard time choosing like I did. The Garmin Nuvi 660 is an incredible GPS for the car. First off I must start off by saying I currently have the Garmin 350 and love it...but I have been using the Garming 660 and after using it, I have to say I think it is worth the extra money. I never thought I would say that, but it has everything I love about my 350 (bright screen, easy to use, clear sound) and more.
The letterbox style screen is bright and crisp. The traffic alerts are very welcome as I live in one of America's biggest suburbias...and am only a short distance from a major city known for its traffic.
What I love most about it is that it has never let me down, the traffic report is right on, the afore mentioned screen and crisp sound. But I also love running by stereo and phone through it.
I tried very hard to find something wrong with the product and alas...if you look hard enough you will usually find it. The only flaw I could find with the 660 is based on an alternate route it chose for me. The Nuvi will give you an option to by pass the traffic. I selected this and it wanted me to go about 30 miles out of the way. Since I was moving I kept going the original route...but other than that...there just isn't anything to complain about...and I am a very picky person. August 18, 2007 By Jill Hunt (Jamestown, New York) | This product works great. When I got caught in a road closed situation it automatically rerouted us through some back roads right to our destination. I was also traveling from NYS to NC and I put in our destination and it took me to the exact place we were going. Occasionally I use it to geocache and when I set it for off-road, pedestrian it takes me right to the cache. It works great with my cell phone as a hands free device. This is an excellent product that I would highly recommend.
